Cirque Kalabanté: Afrique en Cirque
Student Matinee
Prepare to be amazed by acrobats who soar through the air with Cirque Kalabanté: Afrique en Cirque! Acrobats and musicians perform to the sounds of live Afro-Jazz music, percussion beats, and the soulful melodies of the kora, a West African string instrument – creating a high-energy show that celebrates the rich traditions of Guinea.
Cirque Kalabanté promotes the artistic cultures of African and humanitarian projects, as well as cultural exchanges between Canada and Guinea. Their highlighting of multiculturalism shows audiences that it is possible to be united in solidarity and to communicate and live together despite cultural differences.
Afrique en Cirque is more than a circus – it’s a journey to Africa filled with breathtaking acrobatics, music, and dance!
Educator Note: It is customary in the culture that the men may be shirtless at times while performing.
