SUMMARY:Nova Linea Presents: The Living Room
DESCRIPTION:“This Spring\, Nova Linea Contemporary Dance welcomes the return of “The Living Room\,” choreographed by Artistic Director Jared Baker and set to Beirut’s album “Hadsel\,” while also highlighting a continued creative collaboration with guest choreographer Chris Jacobsen. Transporting audiences to a quaint\, eccentric\, and whimsical world\, “The Living Room” explores themes of isolation and self-discovery through imagination and introspection. Inspired by Ben Cardew’s description of the album as “a lonely man who has invited his imaginary friends to a party\,” the work follows an individual who envisions a life filled with everything she longs for\, only to realize that what she seeks has been within her all along. \nFor the first time\, Nova Linea will dedicate an entire half of the program to guest choreographer Chris Jacobsen. Known for his physical\, musical\, breath-driven approach\, Chris creates movement that is expansive\, full-bodied\, and deeply soulful—leaving a lasting impression. The program will feature audience favorite “We’re Talking To You\,” set to the music of Lauryn Hill\, alongside “All I Need\,” and will include the premiere of a brand-new work created specifically for Nova Linea and this performance\, marking a new chapter in his work with the company.”

SUMMARY:Makin' Cake
DESCRIPTION:Slice into a Community Conversation on Culture\, Class\, Race\, & Cake \nDasha Kelly Hamilton describes herself as a “writer\, performer\, facilitator\, mother\, daughter\, sister\, builder\, dreamer\, phenomenon and change agent.” Therefore\, it is no coincidence that she was named Wisconsin Poet Laureate and Milwaukee’s Artist of the Year in 2021. \nIn her show\, Makin’ Cake\, she slices into American history exploring race\, culture\, and class in a refreshing and fun way.  It is storytelling in layers and filled with aha-moments and poignant vignettes\, digital media\, and a supporting cast of two on-stage bakers.  The show serves up an experience and a conversation about equity in America.  Part history lesson\, part social science revelation\, Makin’ Cake is a short story about America’s sweet tooth and pathway to salvation and leaves room for dessert and dialogue with a cake reception immediately following the performance. \nMakin’ Cake was initially commissioned by the John Michael Kohler Arts Center\, and included Kelly Hamilton facilitating arts-based conversations on race and class throughout the community. She continues to develop Makin’ Cake and to pursue dialogues about human and social wellness.

SUMMARY:Jennifer Lyn & The Groove Revival - Electric Eden
DESCRIPTION:Electric Eden is a high-impact concert experience where the heart of classic rock meets the soul of modern blues. \nRemember when live music felt like an event? It is a return to why live music mattered in the first place.

SUMMARY:Florentine Opera: La Traviata
DESCRIPTION:She lives fast\, loves freely\, and throws a better party than anyone in Paris. But beneath the champagne and charm\, Violetta knows her days in the spotlight won’t last forever. When she dares to trade pleasure for true love\, society—and Alfredo’s very proper family—are quick to remind her just how unforgiving Paris can be. \nVerdi’s La Traviata is all romance\, sacrifice\, and a story where “happily ever after” takes a hard pass. \nAt a Glance Blurb: She lives fast and loves freely\, but Violetta’s time is running out. Trading pleasure for true love sets her on a collision course with a judgmental society. Experience Verdi’s La Traviata—where “happily ever after” isn’t part of the program. \nBonus Content: \nPre Opera Talk: Featuring head of music and education and community engagement manager- October 16\, 2026  at 6:30pm & October 18\, 2026  at 1:30pm
