DESCRIPTION:Milwaukee’s cherished summer tradition is back—Summer of Soul 2025 brings the rhythm\, flavor\, and soul of the city to the heart of downtown. Ranging from R&B and Latin jazz to funk\, soul\, and hip-hop\, it’s just the start of what makes this event extraordinary. More than a free concert series\, Summer of Soul transforms into a vibrant block party\, featuring a rotating marketplace with local artisans\, makers\, and community vendors\, along with delicious bites from Milwaukee’s top food trucks.  \nEach night\, a curated blend of national and local talent offers audiences a front-row experience to some of the most dynamic performances of the summer. This season’s lineup is headlined by Grammy-winning vocalist Bilal\, iconic hip-hop trio Digable Planets\, genre-bending jazz artist Madison McFerrin\, and Salsa legends Septeto Charambo—with opening acts including Milwaukee favorites Shonn Hinton\, Kid Cut Up\, Grace Weber\, and Gego y Nony.   \n Bring a lawn chair\, grab a bite\, and soak in the sounds beneath the stars. This eclectic program showcases a variety of dance styles including contemporary\, street dance and traditional ballet. \nDance Fest 2025 will feature performances by:   \n\nAiley II (New York\, NY): The next generation of dance\, AILEY’s second company is renowned for merging the spirit and energy of the next generation with the creative vision of emerging choreographers. \n\n\nWater Street Dance Milwaukee (Milwaukee\, WI): Dedicated to exploring diversity within their art\, artists\, and audiences\, the company is renowned for their athletic\, innovative\, and entertaining performances. They were named to Dance Magazine‘s “25 to Watch” list in 2024. \n\n\nMadison Ballet (Madison\, WI): Wisconsin’s second-largest dance organization is under the direction of Ja’ Malik and is focused on building a better community through art. \n\n\nHouse of Jit (Detroit\, MI): Celebrating the legacy and energy of Detroit’s street dance culture. \n\n\nChicago Dance Crash (Chicago\, IL): A physical theater dance company existing within the intersection of street dance and concert dance.\n\n\nVisceral Dance (Chicago\, IL): A contemporary dance company pushing boundaries through powerful choreography. \n\n\nMadd Rhythms (Chicago\, IL): Chicago’s premier tap company\, celebrated for their rhythm and innovation\n\nThis event is presented by Nō Studios\, an independent organization separate from the Marcus Performing Arts Center. \n Schedule of Events  11:00 Yoga in the Park.
