Observed in different ways throughout Latino cultures\, each with its own customs\, music\, and traditions\, this international holiday demonstrates our commitment to centering youth and honoring the cultural practices that shape their identities. \nThe Hispanic Heritage Celebration highlights the importance of childhood\, education\, and the overall well-being of youth and families. It is a joyful gathering that brings families together through engaging activities and shared experiences. Above all\, the celebration is designed to ensure that youth and families in our community feel respected\, supported\, and valued. \nMusic and Dance: Samba\, calypso\, soca\, and traditional dances such as cumbia and salsa set the rhythm\, featuring live performances from Salsabrositas\, Los Moitoteros\, Greenfield Bilingual School\, and Nicole Nicolalde! \nFestive Foods and Drinks: Attendees will enjoy cultural cuisines including empanadas and tamales\, sweet treats like churros\, piñatas filled with candy\, and refreshing regional beverages such as chicha\, along with rum-based cocktails for adults. \nFestive Attire: Children and families are encouraged to wear colorful\, playful outfits that reflect favorite characters or traditional cultural attire.

DESCRIPTION:Wisconsin has one of the largest concentrations of Native American Tribes east of the Mississippi River\, and each has a distinct culture and rich heritage. To celebrate and honor this rich history and culture\, the Marcus Performing Arts Center will present its inaugural Native Heritage Celebration on Friday\, September 18\, 2026. \nThrough this celebration\, attendees will learn about the culture and heritage of the various tribes of Wisconsin through a variety of offerings including traditional smudging\, youth drumming\, and a panel discussion. The fiddle and bagpipes will sweep you away to Christmastime and Winter Solstice celebrations that are sure to lift your holiday spirits and warm your heart. The festive journey follows ancient Gaelic carols and songs\, tucked in perfectly with lively Irish tunes and familiar Christmas melodies with a Celtic twist.   \n Seán Heely Bio: Seán Heely is a U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Champion\, National Champion in Scottish Gaelic (Gàidhlig) Song\, and one of the most dynamic Celtic artists of his generation. A virtuoso fiddler\, singer\, harpist\, and composer\, Seán blends the fire of traditional music with classical finesse—praised by Irish fiddle legend Liz Carroll as “one powerhouse of a fiddler.” He has performed internationally and at top U.S. venues like the Kennedy Center and Strathmore\, and has shared the stage with icons such as Natalie Haas\, Bonnie Rideout\, and Paddy Keenan. A graduate of the University of South Carolina\, Seán made his classical debut with the Virginia Symphony and was a 2019 Artist in Residence at Strathmore Music Center. His latest album\, Dramagical\, has received international acclaim with features on BBC\, RTÉ\, and NPR. SUMMARY:Ballet Folklórico de México\, de Amalia Hernández
DESCRIPTION:For over seven decades\, Amalia Hernández’s Ballet Folklórico de México has positioned itself as the most emblematic folkloric dance ensemble in Mexico and around the world.  \nFounded in 1952 by the dancer and choreographer Amalia Hernández\, the Ballet Folklórico de México revolutionized the concept of traditional dance and transformed the history of Mexican dance\, laying the groundwork and setting the tone for thousands of dance troupes in Mexico and abroad with the characteristic seal of its creator. Amalia Hernández carried out in-depth research in the different states of the Mexican Republic\, studying not only the traditional dances\, but also the music\, customs and typical costumes and then imbuing them with new meaning\, recreating them\, staging them and spreading knowledge of them through the theater. Through avant-garde thinking\, she designed a show and created a cultural management model characterized by efficiency and professionalism on stage. Amalia Hernández’s work was not limited to choreography\, as she was also a great businesswoman and cultural promoter who\, through her brilliant proposals\, managed to rediscover and revalue the richness of Mexican dance.  \nHer hard work resulted in a group with a sense of discipline\, perseverance and extraordinary teamwork that became the first professional folkloric dance company. Transcendental to the history of dance in Mexico\, it also created a cultural management model never seen before in the country.  \nAmalia Hernández’s Ballet Folklórico de México has managed to garner attention for Mexican culture and creators\, acquiring enormous value through creative excellence that is comparable to other great artistic creations around the world.  \nToday\, her repertoire has become a classic\, but one that is renewed\, transformed and enriched with the passage of time. With more than 45 million spectators and countless recognitions\, Amalia Hernández’s artistic legacy remains strong among large audiences\, Mexican and from around the world\, thanks to more than 120 original choreographies with great technical rigor\, elaborate traditional costumes and wonderful dancers. SUMMARY:Dirty Dozen Brass Band
DESCRIPTION:Celebrating over 45 years since their founding in 1977\, the GRAMMY Award-winning New Orleans-based Dirty Dozen Brass Band has taken the traditional foundation of brass band music and incorporated it into a blend of genres\, including bebop jazz\, funk\, and R&B/soul. This unique sound\, described by the band as a “musical gumbo”\, has allowed the Dirty Dozen to tour across five continents and more than thirty countries\, record twelve studio albums\, and collaborate with a range of artists from Modest Mouse to Widespread Panic to Norah Jones. Forty-five plus years later\, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band is a world-famous music machine whose name is synonymous with genre-bending romps and high-octane performances. \n The History of The Dirty Dozen Brass Band In 1977\, The Dirty Dozen Social Aid and Pleasure Club in New Orleans began showcasing a traditional Crescent City brass band. It was a joining of two proud\, but antiquated\, traditions at the time: social aid and pleasure clubs dated back over a century to a timewhen black southerners could rarely afford life insurance\, and the clubs would provide proper funeral arrangements. Brass bands\, early predecessors of jazz as we know it\, would often follow the funeral procession playing somber dirges\, then once the family ofthe deceased was out of earshot\, burst into jubilant dance tunes as casual onlookers danced in the streets. By the late '70s\, few of either existed. The Dirty Dozen Social Aid and Pleasure Club decided to assemble this group as a house band\, and over the course of these early gigs\, the seven-member ensemble adopted the venue's name: The Dirty Dozen Brass Band
