DESCRIPTION:The Hispanic Heritage Celebration honors and celebrates the rich and diverse cultures of Hispanic and Latino communities\, with a special focus on uplifting youth and families. The festival is inspired by El Día de los Niños (Day of the Children)\, a cherished tradition celebrated across many Latin American countries that recognizes the importance of children\, childhood\, and family. Observed in different ways throughout Latino cultures\, each with its own customs\, music\, and traditions\, this international holiday demonstrates our commitment to centering youth and honoring the cultural practices that shape their identities. \nThe Hispanic Heritage Celebration highlights the importance of childhood\, education\, and the overall well-being of youth and families. It is a joyful gathering that brings families together through engaging activities and shared experiences. Above all\, the celebration is designed to ensure that youth and families in our community feel respected\, supported\, and valued. \nMusic and Dance: Samba\, calypso\, soca\, and traditional dances such as cumbia and salsa set the rhythm\, featuring live performances from Salsabrositas\, Los Moitoteros and Greenfield Bilingual School. \nFestive Foods and Drinks: Attendees will enjoy cultural cuisines including empanadas and tamales\, sweet treats like churros\, piñatas filled with candy\, and refreshing regional beverages such as chicha\, along with rum-based cocktails for adults. \nFestive Attire: Children and families are encouraged to wear colorful\, playful outfits that reflect favorite characters or traditional cultural attire.

SUMMARY:2nd Annual Native Heritage Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Wisconsin has one of the largest concentrations of Native American Tribes east of the Mississippi River\, and each has a distinct culture and rich heritage. To celebrate and honor this rich history and culture\, the Marcus Performing Arts Center will present its inaugural Native Heritage Celebration on Friday\, September 18\, 2026. \nThrough this celebration\, attendees will learn about the culture and heritage of the various tribes of Wisconsin through a variety of offerings including traditional smudging\, youth drumming\, and a panel discussion. The event will feature interactive experience booths where attendees can meet representatives from Wisconsin’s eleven tribes\, explore traditional artifacts\, and learn about the customs\, traditions\, and living cultures of Native communities throughout the state. \nThe Native Heritage Celebration is free and open to the public.

DESCRIPTION:Kilts and tartan abound as US National Scottish Fiddle Champion Seán Heely and a cast of nationally-acclaimed Celtic performers take you on a magical winter tour through the Scottish Highlands and across the rugged Irish coast. The fiddle and bagpipes will sweep you away to Christmastime and Winter Solstice celebrations that are sure to lift your holiday spirits and warm your heart. The festive journey follows ancient Gaelic carols and songs\, tucked in perfectly with lively Irish tunes and familiar Christmas melodies with a Celtic twist.   \n Seán Heely Bio: Seán Heely is a U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Champion\, National Champion in Scottish Gaelic (Gàidhlig) Song\, and one of the most dynamic Celtic artists of his generation. A virtuoso fiddler\, singer\, harpist\, and composer\, Seán blends the fire of traditional music with classical finesse—praised by Irish fiddle legend Liz Carroll as “one powerhouse of a fiddler.” He has performed internationally and at top U.S. venues like the Kennedy Center and Strathmore\, and has shared the stage with icons such as Natalie Haas\, Bonnie Rideout\, and Paddy Keenan. A graduate of the University of South Carolina\, Seán made his classical debut with the Virginia Symphony and was a 2019 Artist in Residence at Strathmore Music Center. His latest album\, Dramagical\, has received international acclaim with features on BBC\, RTÉ\, and NPR. Based in Washington\, D.C.\, Seán tours with the Seán Heely Celtic Band\, The Glencoe Lads\, and Jennifer Cutting’s Ocean Orchestra\, and serves as a passionate ambassador for Gaelic culture through performance and teaching.
