SUMMARY:Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo
DESCRIPTION:Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo brings its internationally beloved troupe of male dancers to Milwaukee to perform a brilliant combination of skillful pointe work and hilarious parodying of classical ballet favorites like Swan Lake. Founded in New York City in 1974\, the company\, affectionately known as the Trocks\, first captivated small audiences in late-late shows in off-off Broadway lofts who embraced their unconventional humor and impeccable technique.  \nSince then\, the Trocks have pirouetted their way onto the world stage with their playful blend of dance knowledge\, comedy\, and athleticism. Whether you’re a die-hard dance lover or a first-time balletgoer\, their mix of artistry and absurdity will leave you in awe. The Trocks are “a guaranteed hoot for people who know nothing of ballet and an absolute must for those who think they know the originals.” Sydney Star Observer.  \n“This is a company that brings its audiences pure joy.” –The Seattle Times  \n“Ballet is a completely absurd art — and we love it to pieces: that’s what Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo proclaims with every move.” –Alastair Macaulay\, The New York Times  \nThis show is part of the 2025/26 MPAC Presents Dance series. SUMMARY:Ladies of Hip Hop
DESCRIPTION:Ladies of Hip Hop (LOHH) is an all-female intergenerational dance collective that creates dance works illuminating the strength\, power\, and diversity of women in Hip Hop. Under the direction of founder Michele Byrd-McPhee\, LOHH interweaves the embodied experiences of women\, creating a communal fabric that paints a picture of a more global women experience. Through their work\, LOHH is reclaiming and transforming spaces\, not only in the realm of dance but also within the broader cultural landscape.  \nThe Black Dancing Bodies Project is an initiative to uplift and celebrate Black women in street and club dance culture\, addressing the erasure and miscoding of Black women’s contributions to American dance culture. Black Dancing Bodies Project: Speak My Mind reclaims community stories\, gestures\, mannerisms\, hairstyles\, dances\, and cultural norms. With neck rolling\, eye rolling\, tongue popping\, teeth sucking\, hand clapping\, and finger snapping\, we will be loud\, expressive\, gentle\, and soft. We will be authentically ourselves. We will speak our minds. \nSpeakMyMind was commissioned by Works & Process\, developed in Works & Process LaunchPAD residencies at Bethany Arts Community (2022\, 2023\, and 2024) and Catskill Mountain Foundation (2022)\, Office Hours Residency at The Kennedy Center\, and Jacob’s Pillow Lab. \nSpeakMyMind is a 2023 New England Foundation for the Arts’s National Dance Project grantee\, with lead funding from the Doris Duke Foundation and Mellon Foundation. \nBonus Experiences:\nPost-Show Q&A – Join us for a post-show Q&A with some of the cast after the show!
