Beyond Glory at Marcus Center's Uihlein Hall for MC Presents

Beyond Glory

Stephen Lang, award winning playwright, stage and screen star, brings the stories of eight different men to the stage in a one-man show that will reach into your very soul and keep you thoroughly spellbound:  Beyond Glory, adapted from Larry Smith’s stirring book. Commended for film portrayals of Babe Ruth to Stonewall Jackson to AVATAR’s Col. Quaritch, Lang began his career on Broadway and maintained a managing role at the Actor’s Theatre.  It is through Lang’s stage adaptation of Beyond Glory that he has reached his most memorable, his most brilliant work. Beyond Glory enjoyed a celebrated run on Broadway and in Chicago’s Goodman Theater; Lang is now taking it coast to coast. Beyond Glory presents the stories of eight veterans from World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, rendering first hand accounts of valor which resulted in the nation’s highest military award, the Medal of Honor.  As a tribute to fallen soldiers, Lang performed the show on military bases, and gave a command performance on the floor of Congress with Medal of Honor recipient Senator Daniel Inouye of Hawaii in attendance.

Beyond Glory at the Marcus Center

Socks and Coats for Vets

A collection drive for clean socks and coats for men, women and children.

The Marcus Center for the Performing Arts and the Milwaukee Homeless Veterans Initiative (MHVI) are teaming up for Socks & Coats for Vets. The collection will take place on November 1 from 7am – 10am in front of the Marcus Center at 929. North Water Street.

Volunteers will be on hand at the Marcus Center starting at 7am on Friday November 1 to collect clean Socks and Coats. Donors are asked to pull into the circle driveway in front of the Marcus Center to make their donation. Volunteers will collect donations so donors need not get out of their vehicles. The MHVI serves Veterans and their Families so coats for men, women and children will be accepted.

In addition to the partnership for the Coat and Sock drive, on Veterans Day, November 11th the Marcus Center is presenting the performance BEYOND GLORY in Uihlein Hall. Stephen Lang, award winning playwright, stage and screen star, brings the stories of eight Medal of Honor recipients in a one-man show that will reach into your very soul and keep you thoroughly spellbound. A portion of the price of every ticket will go to benefit MHVI.

“The red, white and blue is not just to look at, but to feel” said Wisconsin Medal of Honor Winner Gary Wetzel Sp4c., 173d Assault Helicopter Company. “Stephen Lang gives such a strong performance that he brings each man to life.  Beyond Glory is not just for active military and veterans, but for all who value courage, valor and freedom.”
