The Marcus Center’s diversity initiative offers experiences, both at the Center, and within the community, that embrace diversity and engage audiences through the performing arts. We are a mission-based organization that strives to be the premier community-friendly Arts Center that incorporates and celebrates diversity in all aspects of what the Center offers. This includes programming, community engagement and its facility as a whole.
The Marcus Center is a 501c3 corporation that is currently owned and partially funded by Milwaukee County. As the community’s Arts Center, it has a dual role as both a provider of space and as a home to six major resident groups which include, First Stage, Milwaukee Ballet, Florentine Opera Company, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Black Arts MKE and the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra.
As a presenter, the Marcus Center also offers its own arts and entertainment programming, such as Associated Bank’s Broadway at the Marcus Center, Marcus Center Presents and LIVE at Peck. Offering diverse programming to our entire community helps us to build bridges through shared cultural experiences.
KidZ Days At the Center is our free programming for children, held outdoors on KidZ Stage throughout the summer months on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 10:00 am – 11:00 am. This community service provides live performing arts that incorporate an educational component and encourage interactive participation. Learn More
KidZ Days In The City is a component of KidZ Days At the Center and was launched in the summer of 2011. Through this program, we are able to provide educational and interactive arts programming at various community-based organizations and schools throughout the city of Milwaukee. Programming takes place on Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer months from 11:00 am – 12 pm. Learn More
As part of our continued commitment to engage our communities and diversify our audiences, the Center offers a program called Family Nights At the Center. This outreach program engages at-risk families in targeted neighborhoods to attend theatre together at least twice throughout the Broadway Season. Learn More
Peck Flicks at the Marcus Center is a free series offering family friendly movies shown outdoors in the Marcus Center’s Peck Pavilion. The series will show only G or PG movies for a wide audience in the downtown space. Learn More

The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration programming highlights the youth in our community who every year interpret Dr. King’s words through an art, speech and writing contest. Learn More
Cantos de las Americas is an annual concert celebration, which honors the varied cultures that are represented by the students of Milwaukee Public Schools. Historically, the concert features students performing songs and dances from the Caribbean, Africa, Latina America and Europe, in addition to the Hmong, Laotian and Native American cultures. The Marcus Center’s only annual fundraising appeal, the Broadway Bash has become one of Milwaukee’s hottest tickets to a fun evening of gourmet dining, Broadway’s biggest hits, desserts, dancing, unique auctions and a few surprises. Revenue from the Broadway Bash supports the Center’s mission of fostering diversity by connecting communities through the arts, and preserving the Center for generations to come. Learn More
